...after ass-err-taining that the 'Luuuuv' truck was in a half foot of mud with no visable sign of tranny, I 'scused myself and resumed combing CL. Two hrs. later, got a call from this guy on the other side of Puget Sound-an F-150 that had sounded promising!
Meet the guy in the Denny's lot and realize I'd just exchanged one CL tweak for another. Deep Sigh. '82 Fordpickemup with...also...a 300in Six.-carb'd and rebuilt 3g ago. Looking good...sep-whats all this tranny drippin'down thar undr' th' radiator, Mr. and Mrs. Tweaker??
A quart a week??!-----no budge on the price and the nice burned-out couple really have to BE somewhere (..and it doesn't look like Grandma's house for cookies!)..so I shell out 400 in cash into their black hole and take the legit Title paper and a truck that reminds me of my Stepdaughter in her freshman year at Western Wa. U.

Re: Sam the disaffected PoMo Cowpunk truck
Wed, December 27, 2006 - 6:17 AMI'm taking a crash course in tranny coolers- usta have one in my 82 Deadhead E150 conversion van (reference the RV from the '70's thread..) that stayed clean n' never caused me problems. Something about a primary 'door' in the cooler---well sumpin needs tightin! -

Re: Sam the disaffected PoMo Cowpunk truck
Mon, January 1, 2007 - 9:02 PMIt's most likely the compression fitting on the radiator if it is that type. Otherwise anything that will fit in there will do. If the tubing is the right size you can use a air condtioner core as a serious tranny cooler. -

Re: Sam the disaffected PoMo Cowpunk truck
Sun, March 18, 2007 - 1:02 AMYou were so right!! While vetting/driving last week, I ate right side wheel bearing inside. Bizarre....cap just leapt....horizonally...no, lept UP...like Sam was trying to tell me 'lookiehere!'
I wasn't too concerned the thing had ceder shavings in it...this is Puget Sound, after all. When the bearing was freed, I looked at it..one little sliver had lodged in a spot where the grease couldn't find it...and the thing had spun right there. Changed it out in the Slaveway pkg. lot. Borrowed a Volvo '90 with needs herself..but it got me to political activities this past week. Might just trade pinks... -

Re: Sam the disaffected PoMo Cowpunk truck
Sat, July 14, 2007 - 7:38 AM.....Sam finally ate his/her tranny 1st gear. Actually let me drive him/her for a few weeks before selling the truck and opening myself up to further craigslist sale rig abuse......
Glad to see this tribe up and about!
