Sat, July 14, 2007 - 7:44 AM........oh, I would absolutely take my SCTA legal entry to the salt flats. I believe the young man is visualizing a fusion here. Personally, new visions unencumbered by marketing are refreshing and I would not discourage them....

Sun, September 30, 2007 - 12:15 PMWe disposed with the hydraulics , and went all mechanical lots of spinning shafts and gears ,chain drive to the big iron wheels. We got the gear ratio right, but we had problems with the axel deflecting amd throwing the drive chains. I will work on it later this year, if I have the energy.
I bought a Book in Leipzig last week that is all about early bikes and motorcycles (in German) , it has a solution for the lack of suspension on the front of the steam car, I want to put a wood wheel and more gear reduction on it. -

Sun, October 21, 2007 - 8:47 PMThe Haul Was towed back one evening to our camp, by somone who did not seem to understand that the sting steers pretty roughly with the iron wheels on. ZThey took off and got up to about 20mph. At this point it was all I could do to hold on to the 4ft ships wheel we use for a steering wheel. A lot of screaming and swearing got them to slow down, as I would have had to use the breaks on the Haul, and most likely have torn off their bumper. It was right on the edge of controlability.
The steam car goes about 20mph on flat ground.
